A Thoughtful College of Physicians of Philadelphia Wedding | Sadie and Laurenson
Some wedding days stand out for their atmosphere — that effortless blend of elegance, warmth, and intention. Sadie and Laurenson’s May wedding at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia was one of those days. Captured beautifully by Jason Moody Photography, their celebration brought together family, faith, and Philadelphia charm in a way that felt deeply personal.
From the start, it was clear how much heart Sadie and her mom, Ann Marie, poured into planning. Every decision — from the venue and menu to the music and décor — reflected a balance of sophistication and sincerity. The College of Physicians, with its lush Medicinal Garden and historic Mitchell Hall, was the perfect backdrop for a day that honored both tradition and joy.
The morning began in two of Philadelphia’s most iconic spots. Sadie and her family got ready at The Rittenhouse Hotel, where hair and makeup was handled by Mack Stylist and Cheekadee Makeup Artists. One of the sweetest moments came when Sadie shared a first look with her dad — a quiet pause before the full day began.
Meanwhile, Laurenson and his family prepared just a few blocks away at The Racquet Club of Philadelphia, surrounded by the same mix of excitement and calm. From these relaxed beginnings, the day moved seamlessly toward what would become a beautiful, heartfelt celebration.
Before guests arrived, Sadie and Laurenson met for their first look in the Rush Medicinal Garden at The College of Physicians. The garden was alive with spring color and a soft breeze that made everything feel light and easy — exactly the mood they had hoped for. After that moment together, their families joined for portraits surrounded by greenery, all captured beautifully by Jason Moody.
After the Ketubah was signed, the ceremony took place right in that same garden, officiated by Father Michael Callahan and Rabbi David Katz in a thoughtful interfaith service that honored both of their families’ traditions. As guests found their seats, music from Jellyroll filled the air, and the sun filtered through the trees — a gentle reminder that some of the best moments can’t be planned.
The lushness of the garden was perfectly enhanced by all of the incredible florals by Robertson’s.
Following the ceremony, guests made their way into Thomson Gallery for cocktail hour, where Catering by Design offered a spread of passed hors d’oeuvres like Korean fried chicken cones, tuna tataki, and Montreal burger sliders, alongside stationary displays of cheeses, meats, and flatbreads. The gallery’s art-lined walls and floral accents by Robertson’s made for an inviting atmosphere while a piano and sax duo from Jellyroll set a relaxed, joyful tone for the evening ahead.
The reception in Mitchell Hall was elegant without being fussy — the kind of space that felt instantly comfortable and still incredibly grand. Rather than candlelight, small table lamps glowed softly across the room, giving the dinner a warm, classic ambiance. Guests enjoyed short rib, grilled sea bass, and cauliflower fritters while listening to heartfelt toasts from family.
Once the music started, Jellyroll had the dance floor packed for the rest of the night, with highlights including the Hora and Tarantella. Dessert from Night Kitchen Bakery — a delicious carrot cake and trays of cookies — paired perfectly with boozy coffee offerings from Catering by Design, closing the evening on the sweetest note.
